DCAGS is moving to a new website (http://dcags.camp8.org ) that allows us to include an online membership management program accessible at anytime on the internet. Walker will walk you through this new product in advance of the official launching later this month as we begin 2013 membership renewals. This will allow (not require) members to manage their membership at their convenience. Members will have access to a members-only area (that will not be viewable to the public).  This will add the ability for members to share more information about themselves, such as profile pictures and family tree documents. A current membership directory will be available, rather than relying on a paper version that outdates quickly. This product will also provide a venue for discussions on any topic members or visitors would like, including assistance on research.

Walker Crawford works for the University of Wisconsin Foundation supporting the development needs of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He's been involved with genealogy since his great aunt turned over her 6,000 plus names from her research for computer entry when he was 21.

WorldCat is described as the world's largest library catalog; it is sometimes referred to as "OCLC." It is what virtually every Interlibrary Loan staff member uses to help you get books and other material from libraries other than your own. It contains information on MOST of the holdings of MOST of the major, and many of the not so major, libraries in the world. Rollie will show some of the features of WorldCat which you can use from your own computer. You can not only find where items you are interested in are held, but you can use it like any other online library catalog to discover related material.

Rollie is a retired academic staff member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Among other “vices”, he spends at least one-half day a week working as a volunteer staff member in the Wisconsin Historical Society library archives.
